The Commission on the Future of Oracy Education in England has examined the vital skills of speaking and listening at a time of unprecedented technological and social change.
The Commission was set up in response to the growing recognition of the importance of spoken language to children’s learning and life chances and increasing evidence and concern as to the impact of the inconsistency, quality and accessibility of oracy education in schools across England.
Between March - September 2024, the Commission shaped a series of recommendations to lead to a systemic shift in access to oracy education in England.
